THE CRAFT OF COINTREAU

Last night I was fortunate enough to compete in this great competition, that took place at the Pourhouse. The challenge was to craft Cointreau into a cocktail for the 4 judges. Competitors from all over town, with a range of experience, brought the goods, all the drinks looking and tasting great. Plenty of innovation from homemade syrups & bitters to some molecular who knows what.
When it was all said and done it was the kid from the Diamond Geoff Robinson (pictured above) who stole the show, winning 5 days in France. He will get hammered in Paris then head down to the home of Cointreau, Angers. Sounds alright. 2nd place went to Justin Tisdall (pictured below) from the market at the Shangri-la. Lauren Mote from the Refinery took 3rd. Special thanks to Jay Jones of the Pourhouse, the select wine crew and of course Cointreau who put on the event. Check out the Tasting Room for Geoff's recipe. Photography compliments of Jackie Connelly.
