KETTNERS - SOHO SOPHISTICATION

I often check out The Cool Hunter to see what's happening out there in the world of product design and interior design.  A recent post on the refurbishment of Kettners in Soho, London, is one of the most grandiose i've seen yet. Kettners was originally opened in 1867 by 'Auguste Kettner' chef to Napoleon III,  located in prime Theatre territory Soho, where it was a favorite haunt for Edward VII, Lillie Langtry and Oscar Wilde, amongst others.

It's rooms are comprised of a "Brasserie", serving contemporary brasserie food, a "Champagne Bar", boasting one of the most extensive in London and a Pudding Bar, for tea and cakes. The best room however is, "The Apartment", a private club like function room but with no membership fee. Entered via a secret door on Greek Street, the highly original space draws it's inspiration from a French film director's lair. It comes complete with casting couches, a drinks cabinet, music system, WIFI and a grand piano.  All this, plus it's reasonable pricing (for London) and it's Soho location make it the perfect meeting place for hedonism of the tallest order.
