TAPLISTER - What's on tap?
I'm a huge proponent of Twitter, i find it especially useful as a real time search engine, it's the best way to access up to the minute information.
Harnessing this real time information and then building an application is proving big business across industries. A great example of a booze related application is taplister.com, the people behind Taplister have utilized twitter to offer up to the minute beer tap lists, effectively building a live beer search engine.
This means beer fans in US cities such as Seattle, Portland and Austin can visit Taplister and search which bars are serving their favorite beers on tap. For those with iphones, a handy little app called Beer Signal will also provide a geo based service telling the user where they can find their beer of choice. You can search simply by typing a beer name and the site will produce a list of places that serve that beer. Or if searching by bar, you'll see a list of what's on tap at that bar.
You can also contribute to the growing list of beers on tap by tweeting about them. Likewise if a beer has sold out, you can let others know by tweeting about it and Taplister would automatically update with this information.
Now, if you could somehow combine this service with beer taps that were on special offer, it would be something even more worthwhile tapping into!
